There orchid collection had overgrown their existing window sills and they wanted to have a room dedicated to their flowers. The room is designed to have evaporative cooler to keep the orchids at the proper tempature during the hot summer. A special non-electric heat system is being installed to keep the orchids warm in the winter months even during a power outage. A reverse osmosis system is being used for creating pure water for the plants. High intensity lighting is being installed to substitute the light needed during the short days of winter. The roof windows are built out of twin wall poly carbonate glass using parallel beams for support. The project was created under design consultation with Jerrys at Orchids Limited.
